July 2026 Newsletter
Our July 2026 Newsletter has been published and emailed to everyone on our distribution list. In addition to a full list of our many walking holidays during this year and next, it includes information about the risk from ticks and the date for our Christmas meal at Cumberwell Park. It also contains news of our two new WhatsApp groups that we are setting up for Wednesday and Sunday walkers.
The WhatsApp groups will be used to push information to members such as changes to walk details, new walks added, cancellations etc. Whilst the website will still be updated, this means that you won't have to check it for late changes before departure for a walk. It can also be used by walkers looking for a car share to a walk or walk leaders looking for a buddy to help with a recce or with leading a walk. In order to maintain its relevance, members will be asked not to respond to messages by saying thank you, or to post trivial comments. Persistent abusers will be blocked! Photos taken on our walks should continue to be posted to our Facebook page, not WhatsApp.
The WhatsApp groups are intended only for those who come on our walks and signing up is entirely voluntary. Details on how to sign up are included in the newsletter. If you do not use WhatsApp or don't wish to join either or both groups then please let the walk leader know when signing up for a walk so that the walk leader can text you in the event of a problem.
Please ignore the information about our AGM in the newsletter; Frank has jumped the gun. The venue was not available on either our first or second preference dates, so neither the date nor the venue is correct!
