Our Committee usually meets four times a year to ensure that the Group continues to run smoothly. Currently three of those meetings take place via Zoom, from the comfort of our own homes but we try to meet face-to-face once a year. Our year runs from 1 October to 30 September and we are required to hold an Annual General Meeting after the year end. We usually hold this in November and all members of the Group are invited to attend the AGM, which takes place in a village hall or similar venue somewhere on our “patch”.

There are various Officer roles on our Committee; in addition to the usual roles of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary, we also have a Membership Secretary, a Walks Programme Co-ordinator and a Footpath Officer. There is no upper limit on the number of Committee members and we encourage all of our members to consider if they would like to join us. Many of the Committee have been performing their roles for many years and they will, inevitably, wish to retire from the Committee sooner or later. It is therefore crucial that new, younger, members step forward to learn the ropes from the old hands and eventually take over from them to ensure that we can continue our activities. Without a functioning Committee there would be no walks.
